Never released before, the song was written by Dark Avenger’s vocalist, Mario Linhares

“A great discovery of the Brazilian metal”. This phrase was said by experienced and respected singer Mario Linhares, from the band Dark Avenger, about Sao Paulo’s traditional heavy metal act Primator.

Primator is, indeed, a legitimate representative of the new generation of Brazilian metal, although already count on experience and respect earned through its super praised debut album, “Involution”, voted one of the “Best Brazilian Metal Albums from 2015″ by the brazilian webzines Heavynroll, Mundo Metal and Roadie Metal. “Involution” also collects dozens of positive statements in the brazilian press as “powerful, creative, technical and full of content” (Dossiê do Rock); “Transpires authenticity” (Blog Na Mira); “Another album to the list of best national releases from 2015″ (A música continua a mesma); “Extremely well done!” (Música e Cinema); “Very good!” (Arte Metal); “One of the best Heavy Metal bands that we’ve listened nowadays” (Resenha do Rock).

The friendship between Primator and Mario Linhares became even closer when, in April last year, Dark Avenger and Primator shared the stage in Sao Paulo. The approach also ended up yielding Linhares announcement as producer of next Primator’s studio album.
Mario Linhares also presented the group with a song of his own entitled “To Mars” which ended up turning a music video.

Produced by Daniel de Sá, the shootings for “To Mars” occured at Pedreira do Icatu, in Votorantim/Brazil, same disabled mine that was used in 2012 for a memorable show of Focus, the legendary dutch progressive rock band. All the scenes were filmed at night and shows the band on a literally incendiary performance.

Primator Oficial
“We need to give a step back and rethink our path”. This is a statement, in urgent tone, from Rodrigo Sinopoli, singer of the brazilian traditional heavy metal band Primator.

Thoughts like that, inspired on “On the Origin of Species” by Charles Darwin and on other thinkers from philosophy and psychoanalysis, permeates the concept of the band’s debut album titled “Involution”.

The album is being produced by Daniel de Sa (Andragonia, Crossrock, Strip No Altar) and will bring the tracks “Primator”, “Black Tormentor”, “Deadland”, “Flames of Hades”, “Erase The Rainbow”, “Caroline”, “Let Me Live Again”, “Face The Death”, “Praying for Nothing” and “Involution”.

The cover illustration of “Involution” was designed by Rodrigo Sinopoli and, according to him, reflects directly the central theme of the album. “We tried to reproduce the evolutionary scale, being seen backwards, putting the viewer as part of the illustration. This is our ‘involution’ scale. The illustration shows the man and his ideals being crushed by the destructive ‘Primator’ – a bestial entity – while others goes in the opposite direction, seeking redemption and a new chance to fix everything that went wrong. The responsibility to take this change is mine, yours and of all those who meet face to face with illustration”.

The tracks “Praying For Nothing” and “Primator” are already available on Soundcloud:

Primator Oficial
For five years on the road, traditional heavy metal band is well known on Sao Paulo nights

The city of Sao Paulo is perhaps the main home in terms of heavy metal in Brazil. If not enough big names that originate in the city as Angra, Korzus, Viper, Dr. Sin, Shaman, Noturnall, etc, we can also say that bands like Sepultura and Krisiun became known worldwide after moving to Sao Paulo.

Primator is the new name of heavy metal from Sao Paulo. With five years down the road, the band is already well known on the nights of Sao Paulo for several shows already made at major rock bars in the city as Manifesto, Blackmore, Dynamite Pub, Gillan’s Inn, Cerveja Azul, among others.

After a great season of rehearsals, concerts and pre-production, the band reached a technical and creative level they deemed ideal for locking in the studio and begin recording the first album of its career. Produced by Daniel de Sa (Andragonia, Crossrock, Strip No Altar), Primator’s debut album still hasn’t a title defined but is already being recorded at GR Studios in Sao Paulo and its expected to reach the stores in the second half of 2014.

The song that takes the name of the band, “Primator”, is available on the band’s official Soundcloud channel.
